ROBUST Local Exhaust Ventilation testing

Exposure to occupational hazards in the form of gas, dust, mist, vapour and fumes can adversely affect the health of those who come into contact with these contaminants. Exposure to these hazards may have an immediate effect or remain latent for short or long periods of time.

At Sigma Engineering Product Design (SigmaEPD) we seek to evaluate the duration, magnitude and route of exposure that may impact the health of, not only the operator, but also those around them. Our testing is therefore centred on assessing LEV systems for both qualitative and quantitative outcomes.

During testing our aim is to ensure that the operators (and those around them) are being adequately protected and that the operation is being conducted in a way that is as safe as is reasonably practicable. This may include discussions with the client around alternative ways of operating that may make the operation safer.

TESTING IN LINE WITH HSG 258

We test that the LEV system has been designed, installed and commissioned in a way that would deliver proportionate ventilation control, in line with HSG 258 and other relevant specifications and guidance.
